CROATIA
ART CRUISE - Images HERE
The recently completed seven-day 2011 Art Cruise of the Croatian
Islands was a huge and happy success.
The white limestone islands are most beautiful and picturesque,
the sea is calm and unbelievably blue, the area is historically
fascinating, and the architecture exhibits layers of cultures
as far back as the Greeks 300BC.
We did wonderful things. We swam off the back of the boat
every day in the crystal clear Adriatic; we explored medieval
alleyways and ancient churches; we shared pizzas in sidewalk
cafes; we bought coral jewellery; we had late-night picnics
on the top deck with the moon sailing in the indigo sky; and
we ate loads of delicious ice-cream cones.
Wherever we went we sketched, took colour notes and hundreds
of photographs, giving us creative material for years of in-studio
work.
Booking is already open for the 2012 Croatia Cruises in August/September.

PORTRAITS
FOR MISTY HILLS HOTEL
I
have recently completed an important commission for the Misty
Hills Hotel in Muldersdrift.
The Hotel has a grand new entrance and reception area with
an African Colonial theme.
In keeping with this theme, CEO Mr Robert Forsyth requested
oil portraits of
Cecil John Rhodes, Zulu Chief Cetshwayo, and Winston Churchill
as a young man
at the turn of the last century.
The paintings are each 1m x 1.2 m which is larger than I have
worked before in oil.
It was a great challenge, and one that I enjoyed.
